How does my warranty work?
Clarification: This article has been adapted to different levels of education.
Primary and Secondary Education (K–12)
A high-quality and durable device from Signpost is unlikely to experience malfunctions or defects. But what if your laptop does not perform as expected or becomes damaged? At Signpost, a solid warranty goes hand in hand with clear terms and conditions. To ensure this warranty, we work together with the insurance company Ethias.
When is a repair covered under warranty?
- The defect is covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
- The battery is defective.
- The keyboard no longer functions partially or completely.
- There is no moisture damage or physical damage to the motherboard caused by the user or a third party.
- The SSD or HDD is defective under normal use.
- The display no longer functions due to a backlight failure or an electronic defect.
- The cooling system or fan no longer functions.
- The internal cables are defective.
- The power adapter is defective, without cosmetic damage.
- The protective case is defective (the zipper no longer works or the seams are torn).
Moisture or Liquid Damage: What Should You Do?
Has liquid been spilled on your device? Immediately unplug the power adapter, turn off the device, and do NOT turn it back on until it has been inspected by a Signpost technician.
Damaged Case or Housing?
Has the zipper or handle of your protective case become defective through no fault of your own? If so, it may be repaired under warranty.
When is a repair not covered under warranty but covered under the flat-rate repair program?
This applies when:
- Moisture damage has been caused by the user or a third party (spilled liquids).
- The screen has been broken by the user or a third party.
- The screen hinges have broken due to improper use (a fall or opening the device beyond the intended angle).
- Impact damage from a fall prevents the device from functioning properly.
- The motherboard has been damaged (broken internal components or damaged ports).
- The device was stolen outside school premises through forced entry or under threat (a police report is required).
- The power adapter is damaged (broken connector or damaged wiring).
- The keyboard is deformed, keys are missing, or key labels are no longer visible.
When is a repair NOT covered under warranty and NOT covered under the flat-rate repair program?
- Cosmetic damage only (dents, scratches) that does not affect functionality.
- Stickers, adhesive residue, or normal wear and tear.
- The device was lost or stolen due to user negligence.
- Intentional damage.
- Access to the BIOS is no longer possible due to a forgotten password (the motherboard must be replaced).
If a device is submitted with multiple independent damage claims, the flat-rate repair fee will be charged for each claim.
Software-related issues are not covered under warranty and are the responsibility of the school or the user.
If the school does not report the repair, you can submit a repair request using the following link:
